The Wingert Model D

The Wingert Model D with 14 frets clear of the body packs a tidy punch with the depth and warmth that you would expect of a big guitar. The shape is ever so slightly "feminized" with a subtle narrowing of the waist making it a more comfortable guitar to hold and lovely to look at.

If you are looking for the dreadnought sound slightly skewed toward fingerstyle play, Wingert Ds have a balance that belies their size. The expected punch is clear and not boomy. They have the bottom, they have the punch, they growl, but the bass does not wash out the rest of the balance.

"Kathy Wingert is a luthier whose craftsmanship can only be equaled by her pride in excellence. She builds a heck of a box."

Vintage-style 12 Fret Model D

The Vintage-style 12-Fret Model D has the biggest body offered in the Kathy Wingert line. If you are a convert to the 12-fret guitar, then you know the qualities of that big sound. To the un-initiated I would suggest that the strength of the 12-fret Model D is in its balance and versatility as a big-bodied guitar that can shine for fingerstyle in addition to flatpicking. My favorite 12-fret Model D is mahogany and sitka. These are available with a vintage-style paddle headstock, optional slotted headstock or my own headstock design.

"Kathy Wingert's dreadnought guitars are terrific! I love them! They have a deep, resonant response, they can fingerppick and flatpick, and on top of that they're beautiful pieces of art."
